This year’s Dubai’s Cityscape saw a major announcement being made on the first day of the exhibition, when Ruwaad, a Dubai based real estate developer announced the development of Amazulu World, the largest of its kind multi-billion-dollar themed entertainment development in South Africa.
Covering approximately 16,500 hectares of land, Amazulu World will consist of an eco-friendly first class internationally branded theme park, with Africa’s largest shopping destination, Africa’s largest lifestyle community, the country’s first dedicated education and health village, the most comprehensive and advanced sports village development in Africa, residential dwellings, hotels, spas, a marina, nature reserves and community facilities.
With ongoing development and new infrastructure being built in South Africa, due to the 2010 Soccer World Cup, it seemed to be the natural choice for this development.
The all year round climate makes it easy to enjoy what the region has to offer and the splendid natural beauty of South Africa draws more and more international investors and developers into its fold.
Telecommunication and tourism interest from outside sources have also been boosted in recent times giving even more reasons to believe that South Africa is indeed an up and coming international destination.
Amazulu World is proposed to be built north of the Thukela River and close to Durban’s main arterial roads, allowing easy access to and from the city as well as the new King Shaka International Airport.
Estimations have thought to bring at least 200,000 new jobs to the development which will help improve the South African economy. Tourism will also be boosted by some 40% bringing millions of tourists into the area once the development is built.
The projected length of the construction is said to last 25 years.
