Michael Jordan has spent $12.4 million dollars on a new luxury home in the Bears Club, a prime golf community designed and owned by Jack Nicklaus. A lover of privacy Jordan chose not to go for one of the remaining waterfront properties, but instead bought the most expensive home without direct access to the water.

The secluded property includes a guard house, a pool house and a guest house as well as the main house, within 28,000 square feet of grounds.

The price paid is reports to be$ 4.8 million for the land and $7.6 million for construction, however, once the properties are completed, including furnishings it is thought that Jordan will have spent at least $20 million.

It is worth every penny though, according to the golfing fraternity the Jack Nicklaus designed Links golf course is one of the best in the world.

Cary Lichtenstein, a former golf rater for GolfWeek Magazine writes:

“The golf course is not your typical palm-tree lined Florida course; instead the property is blessed with hundreds of mature pine trees and well maintained scrub that eats golf balls when struck off line.

“The greens are firm, ultra-fast, and can be treacherous when cut very tight. I played there over a dozen times and always averaged about 3 to 4 strokes higher than my normal score. The course has a very high course rating and is fair but on the difficult side. Their caddy program is terrific.”

Michael Jordan’s neighbour is undoubtedly a testament to the quality of the course; Tiger Woods owns three properties adjacent to Jordan’s. Woods is just one of a host of rich and powerful neighbours for Jordan to square off against on the course, but their identities are a closely guarded secret.
