Celeb Property Round-up

Saturday, June 7th, 2008    Posted by OP-Mall in Celebrities & Property

Celebrities are forever making headlines with the million dollar properties they buy and sell. After all, they are just people like us, only with a lot more cash in their pockets and sometimes bigger egos to boost. We took a peek into some of the latest news clips and played paparazzi to show you how the other half lives.

To see what the coolest (and not so cool) celebs are up to right now, check out our property round up. If you are lucky, you might even be future neighbours.

Brangelina’s New French Estate

The golden couple and darlings of the media are definitely Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The heavily pregnant Angelina (with twins) is said to want to give birth in the South of France in a $70 million property they have apparently just purchased.

According sources, the place is called Chateau Miraval and is located in a village called Brignol, near from Aix-en-Provence. The estate contains 35 bedrooms, a vineyard, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a forest with a lake, a gym, sauna and a banquet hall.

Latest news placed Brad as the designer for a green hotel and resort in Dubai. He said:

“Whilst acting is my career, architecture is my passion,”

The decision to select this development came easy for Pitt, seeing it as a major step forward both to underpin his environmentally friendly attitude and his values. The plans for this major construction will be revealed in the coming months.

The 44-year-old movie star is also building environmentally friendly and affordable homes in New Orleans having been inspired by the tragedy that befell the city when hurricane Katrina swept away many homes.

The Duke of York Sells Home For £15 million

The Duke of York sold his former marital home for £3 million more than it was listed on the market since 2002. Sunningdale Park was on the market for five years and has been sold to Kenes Rakishev, 29, whose father-in-law is a former Prime Minister of his native Kazakhstan.

The house, a gift from the queen was the subject of some nasty comparisons with a Dallas oil ranch in the past and put up for sale six years after the couple divorced. The total sale of £15 million struck after the Duke became friends with Rakishew who has made his fortune with oil, gas and minerals.

Kenny Rogers Sells 9,000-Square-Foot Mansion

Country star Kenny Rogers has listed his six-bedroom, Italian-style mansion located in Atlanta, Georgia on the market. The house is fully furnished and is on the market for $7,950,000.

The house which is two story’s high was built in 1997 and is furnished with the most elaborate detail and luxury imaginable. Apparently it is the 10th house Rogers has bought, fixed up and then sold and not a brick has been untouched on this mansion since the country singer bought the property.

Rogers plans to live full-time in a house that is under construction on his 150-acre ranch in Nicholson, Georgia, near Athens.

Sharon Stone’s Property Sale

Sharon Stone’s Beverly Hills property was purchased by her in early 2006. She never moved into it and put it back on the market with an approximately price increase of $1.6 million only a few months later.

Ever since then, the house has been on the market and gradually been reduced by Sharon Stone. Originally she paid $10,995,000 and now she reduced the asking price to $10,000,000. It looks like she didn’t make the initial profit she was hoping for and is now seeming desperate to let go by selling cheaper than she bought.

The seven bedroom home has eight baths, an open floor plan, and a lagoon pool and a tennis court with a viewing pavilion. There is also a two-bedroom guest house with a gym and a media room.

Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch Auction Cancelled

The famous Neverland Ranch, a long time playground for Jackson was scheduled for a foreclosure auction last month, but was called off at the last minute due to being purchased by investment company Colony Capital LLC.

The 2,500 acre property near Santa Barbara, California was taken away from Jackson when he fell into disrepair after being acquitted a child molester back in 2005. Due to Jackson’s financial problems and the massive debts he couldn’t pay back, the singer lost his former home.

Craig David’s Rise From Garage To Penthouse

Craig David’s high tech and glossy London home could be an advert to one of his groovy music videos. With fingerprint pad entry way, creamy interior, 4,000 sq ft of space, a grand piano, plasma screens and graphic art on the walls, this home is definitely a sea change from his former home in a Southampton council estate.

He bought the £2.5m luxury flat in a 19th-century blue-plaque development on London’s Hampstead Heath in 2002.
